Always Remember…

We all get times in our lives where we feel frustrated, stressed and just down. Sometimes these feeling just last for a day but sometimes they last a bit longer and you get that mind-set where you just want to sit in bed and do nothing. Over time, I’ve complied a list which reminds me some simple steps to beating the blues!

1) Always say yes to seeing friends!

Deciding to get up and see people can be one of the hardest things to do when you feel like this but it’s surprising how much better it can make you feel. Just chuck on some comfy clothes and meet a friend. Get some coffee, go for a walk or even just go to someone's house and watch rubbish. Even just being with friends and getting some air can really help.

2)Eat breakfast everyday

Starting the day with a good, nutritious, filling breakfast is one of the most important things. Foods like porridge, fruits, yoghurt and muesli are all great things to have in the morning. It’s important to have something that’s going to last you till lunch time and something that is going to help keep your brain awake throughout the morning!

3)Recognize that positive change rarely happens overnight

Making a decision to make positive life changes is a great thing but it is so important to remember that it takes time for these changes to become real and that it takes work. Don’t be disheartened if it takes time!

4)Accept the f*ck-ups but try not to let them happen again

This is basically my way of saying learn from your mistakes. We all make them; no one is perfect and so if you do make a mistake it’s important to take it as a lesson and learn from it but not to dwell on it. It does nothing for your happiness to dwell on past events.

5)There is a song to remedy every situation on the planet

I love music and whenever I feel down I just put on some music that I love and instantly feel better. The best thing to do is to create a playlist full of your favourite songs and play it every time you feel blue. It’s also important to remember that some times you need to put on a list of sad songs and have a good cry and you shouldn’t feel ashamed of doing it as often as you need to!(3 times a day is normal right?!)

6)Look for the good in everything

In every bad situation, there is a little sprinkle of good. I’ve had horrible situations before but they helped show me who my true friends are and because of this I am now so much closer to the good people in my life. So whenever you feel that everything is going wrong, remember there’s good a thing in there somewhere, you just have to find it.

7) Try new things and try them often

Sometimes, we get stuck in ruts where we just do the same thing over and over. It’s super important to go out and get new life experiences and change our routines so that life is always exciting and enjoyable.

8)Treat yourself as well as you treat others

Being kind and understanding to other people is super important and can make them (and you) feel so nice. However it is also important to remember that you have to apply this kindness to yourself. Treating yourself right is so important and it’s really difficult to be positive if you are constantly putting yourself down. Remember that you are the only you in the world and that you are an important, amazing person; so go ahead and LOVE YOU because it’s the you you’ll have forever.

I hope you have enjoyed this post and that it’s made you feel a little bit more positive.

Have a lovely week,

Plants, Plants Everywhere...

I've always had lots of cactus all around my room but recently I've been buying a lot of flowers and trees. I'm lucky enough that my family have a large garden but I think its nice to have a few house plants to create a sort of indoor garden. Plants are such lovely, important things and one of the nicest feeling is waking up in the morning surrounded by beautiful smells and colours.

My room isn't very big and as you can see I have a few plants, but I think that it's a really good use of space and they make the room feel lovely. Having a large mix of colours is also nice as it keeps everything vibrant and livens up the room.
The large plant with three large purple groups of flowers is a hyacinth which has most  lovely smell and makes the room smell all summery and fresh.
If you want to brighten up your room or make it more summery then plants are the best thing and going to buy the plants and walking around through the masses of beautiful and varied plants is such a nice thing.
I'd love to hear about other peoples house plants and if they have any particular favorites as I'm always looking for more and love hearing other peoples opinions.
Just a small nugget of a post but I wanted to get back into it so I hope you liked it.
Hope you have a wonderful day, stay happy.

Coping with stress

I have the tendency to get overly stressed about everything, whether it's school or work or my social life, there will always be something thats stressing me out. Now I know that I'm not alone in this and that a lot of you reading will feel the exact same way and so I thought I'd do a post about how do deal with all that stress.
If the thing that's stressing you out is workload, the worst thing to do is to sit there and watch it pile up. I know that I have the tendency to just let it all mount up until there's so much to do that I just give up. The best way to deal with workload is to take it a small bit at a time. Give yourself a time structure such as "I'll finish this piece of work in the next hour and then I'll give myself a break". It doesn't matter if you finish the work in the hour because you'll know that you were working extra hard to get that break. Giving yourself breaks is also extremely important. Even if it's just switching on the TV for half an hour or baking something, any kind of break will be a reward, which will then motivate you to work more.
If the thing stressing you out is your social life, work out why. Is it a person? Is it the activities you do together? Once you've worked out what the problem is, you can start to address it. If it's a person, sit down with them over a nice cup of tea or coffee and a cake and talk about the problems that you have. The bet way to deal with people is to be honest with them. If it's the activities you do together, why not try suggesting activities that you'll like. Try to pick fun, lighthearted things that allow to enjoy yourself and enjoy your friends company.

I've found some useful websites for you to look at if you so wish:

http://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/tips-for-everyday-living/stress-guide/#.VNHdCS7i8tI
http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/stress-anxiety-depression/Pages/reduce-stress.aspx

There is also a great website called http://www.calm.com/ which allows you to set a certain amount of 'calm time' and there's a selection of calming music.
If you'd like to avoid your computer when de-stressing you can also just light a few candles, pop on some fairy lights, put on some music that makes you calm and just  lie there is some dim lighting concentrating on the music. In short, ALLOW YOURSELF SOME 'ME TIME'. Don't feel like you have to go out and see people, if you are feeling stressed just stay at home and give yourself time to recover.

I hope this post has helped you and if you ever need to talk then my tumblr and email are in the 'About the blog' section.

Have a good day, stay positive and peaceful,

The most perfect holiday

In the summer of 2014 I got to go on a wonderful trip to Ireland with two of my best friends. It was an incredible experience and was a really happy and peaceful time. My family live in an old railway house and the station has been converted to accommodation so thats where we stayed. Its beautiful and rustic and very picturesque. There are beautiful walks all around us and  the towns are small and very sweet.
We went on many walks during our stay and we came across some beautiful places. There's a wonderful river a 5 minute walk from the house and the water is so clear and lovely and when it's warm enough you can swim in it. Unfortunately it was not warm enough to swim but we did wade and splash about a bit.We went on another walk that was a small drive from the house and on our walk we found this wonderful abandoned rail tunnel. We walked through the whole tunnel and although it was a little spooky, it was a really cool experience.

We also went to some of the beaches around and we did manage to swim once, which was incredibly cold.

My aunt has friends who live a really cool organic/ natural farm. One of the people who lives on the land owns a pair of horses and as I mentioned in the about me section, horses are a passion of mine. It was really cool to be able to ride these horses as they were being trained to work with disabled children and so were very responsive and lovely to ride.

We also went to a really lovely cafe called 'Poetry Corner' which is a cafe that also sells books. They have these incredible hot chocolates that involve the people giving you a warm cup of milk and a chocolate stick that you stir into the milk, SO GOOD.They also had amazing cakes, I had the coffee cake which came with a lovely raspberry puree and cream. I also bought a little book of poems ,called 'Rescued Poems' by Michael Roddy, and a crime novel. The poetry book was small and the perfect size to read on the flight and the poems are really lovely. If anyone gets the chance to read the book, my favorite poem was 'Reading the News while flying over New York'.

I hope you enjoyed this post and that it was interesting to read.
I'll post as regularly as I can but A levels are time consuming.

Have a good day and stay positive and happy,
